cute line

I know you hate to be reminded of this, but generally, we as men are expected to initiate the conversation. Now this doesn’t have to be true, as you can do what I do, and become the kind of guy women starts conversations WITH. But for the sake of this website, where I deal with conversation starters and lines, let’s assume you want to start a conversation.

Let me quiz you a bit first, ok? What do you think of the following lines? “Did it hurt when you fell down from heaven?”, “Excuse me, I lost my phone number, can I have yours?”, “Was it love at first sight, or should I walk by again?”.

If you said “stupid”, “cheesy” or “dumb” you’re doing great man! And if you didn’t don’t worry, as I’m here to re-educate you. The above lines are NOT cute, or sweet, they’re dorky, stupid and likely to produce a frown or a confused face.

The reason for this is that they’re TOO MUCH. They’re TOO cute… They’re too “sweet”, to the point of just being ridiculous. You know how a parody is created? The author usually takes something, and then exaggerates it to make it look ridiculous. Well, the above lines are kinda like that. They’re almost like TOO much of what a good conversation starter is. That’s why they’re ridiculous.

An alternative set would look something like this

- Wow, your smile just made my day, have we met yet?
- You really are unique, I’ve never met anyone like you. Hi, I’m Bob.
- Yes, I’m single, thanks for asking (holding a cheesy grin)

These are kind of borderline, in the sense that it depends on the girl and how you do them. If you do them with the right expression, and your attitude is “I’m just flirting and messing around” they can come out cute. So the danger with the above ones is you need to be really good at approaching in the sense of your attitude. How you say the lines. Its possible to say the above lines in a way that comes off as cheesy as the first lines I mentioned.

Another set of lines, is a set that’s less risque, and guaranteed to never come across as cheesy, but genuine, romantic and sweet… Here’s some examples. Remember, they work best if you’re genuine and really are thinking it!

- I’ve seen you around campus many times, and I find you attractive, so I thought I’d come over and introduce myself.
- Hi, I like you and would like to meet you. My name is Bob.
- So, how ya guys doing. (approaching a group)

But really dude there's no reason you should be confused about any of this. If you haven't taken the quiz to see how you stack up with women yet... Click here and see what your results are on the personal dating quiz.
